Girls Dinner

Tonight the office girls (Amanda, Ashley, and Jenny) and I went do our monthly dinner. We haven't done this since December because we had a wedding (Ashley's) and the end of the semester. Tonight we visited one of our favorite places, Settebello's. The pizza at Settebello's is amazing and I love the authenticity that the ingreadients provide (everything is imported from Italy). It is well worth the cost.

On the other side of things, the company with dinner is always a great time. We are always laughing,  discussing the latest issues/concerns/changes/ at work, and whatever is going on in our lives. It is definitely a time that I look forward to every month (and we are starting it back up!).

Thanks Ladies for a wonderful dinner & girl talk!

RENT

I first came across RENT when I was in school at Lawrence. You would think that I would have experience through a production since it is a liberal arts school and has a conservatory attached to it. However, it was actually an accidental find. I was in the Mudd Library and I needed a new CD to listen to (this was back before the 'modern' times of MP3 players). I saw the mucial and thought that it would be a great choice to study to. Well, little did I know that I would be hooked forever! I can hum all of the songs and sing (well, what I call singing) quite a few songs.

My next exposure was the movie rendition of RENT. It was good, the characters were well developed and cast was pretty good. The thing about the movie was it just wasn't the same as the musical. I guess I'm more of a original than the remix kind of gal.

This year Pioneer Theater Company put on RENT. I was so excited to hear that they were doing it and I could actually go and see it in person. Last night Ashley and I had a girls night and went do dinner and RENT. I really enjoyed the production and loved seeing it actually in person. I thought some of the chorus members were stronger than the cast members but it still was amazing. I laughed, cried, and loved the production. Lets hope that it doesn't take 10+ years to see it. :)

Summer is Here

I realized that spring was officially skipped in Utah this year.  Why? Well Scott & I took a pit-stop at home yesterday to let out Captain (between set-up and the reception) I realized that our rosebush is blooming. So that means that summer is officially here. I went around and took some photos today and our garden is officially on it's way to summer status.

(this plant's flowers are only open in the morning for about 4 hours so it's a rarity to actually see them)

 Happy Summer to you!

Christine's Wedding Weekend

Well this past Saturday Scott's little sister Christine got married. It was a great 3 days filled with wedding festivities with her Bachelorette at the Old Spaghetti Factory on Thursday night. There was 8 of us that had a great meal of spaghetti and laughter. Christine wanted it low key and we did that but we did get her bright red a few times.

Friday I took the day off of work to help get the final bit of wedding 'stuff' done with Christine and Robyn. It was a good afternoon where everything was completed and boxed up for the next day. That night we attended the Groom's dinner. It was a great time laughing with Jayne, Judy and Becky and food for dinner was excellent.

On Saturday Scott and I met up with the rest of the family at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple and saw the bride and groom on their big day. Christine looked beautiful and the couple was so happy.

During the afternoon the brides family set up the B & C Carnival. It was a perfect theme and wonderful reception for the two. All the couples in the Hortin family definitely utilized the Kissing Booth.

Scott & I also took about 18 friends home to give to my parents.

Congratulations to Christine & Ben!

June= Spring

This years spring has been non-existant because of all the rain. Well, our flowers are finally blooming in our yard and I wanted to share them with you all. :)

(this is our seeded grass--it actually took!)

May Renovations

Well we have made it through May and we are slowly moving along. 3 weeks ago Scott and his Dad replaced the 3 small windows. It is so nice to be able to open windows down there now! That Saturday Brian and Scott's dad came over to get the large window in. It took them longer than they expected but the window is now done and in.

The next weekend Scott & I framed the outside walls of the entire basement. We spent all weekend doing it and there was only one time that I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital (a nail missed the wood and shot right at me). We have bought the light boxes and outlet/switch boxes and that will be our next step for the basement.

Below you fill find various photos of the spaces as they are today...

 The completed window well!

 The main room framed up.

The bedroom with the new window well--it is a lot brighter in there now.

Memorial Day 2011

Over Memorial Day weekend Scott & I went down to St. George with my parents for a relaxing and warm weekend. Salt Lake has had the wettest spring on record and the entire weekend called for rain so we went south to avoid the excitement of another weekend inside.  We took Captain with us and we think he had a great time but we do know he enjoyed barking/crying at all the animals that we passed along the route:

On our way down we didn't get off as early as we had hoped but we got to see a beautiful sunset.

Saturday was a nice and relaxing day by sleeping in, having a great egg breakfast, going shopping at the outlet mall and then 4 wheeling/shooting. Mom and Dad found a new place that allows dad a long range target. It was a good time until we had to get the stickers out of our shoes!

Sunday we went up to Zion National Park and decided to hike up to Hidden Canyon. It was a beautiful hike and we were able to look over Angels Landing. Dad got sick on the way up and didn't want to deal with the chains that were on part of the hike so we left him and hiked with mom.

Overall the weekend was a great one that was spent relaxing and enjoying the sunshine!
